Poet Darwin, July 29. It has not yet been discovered what was the cause of tbe cables breaking. The end at each break has been secured for examination. As soon as the repairing steamer Recorder has completed repairs to the present cable, she will be engaged m soundings of the route between Java and Western Australia. , The Australian Governments and the Colonial Office have undertaken to carry out the arrangements of landing rights for the new cable. The contract for the manufacture of the cable has already been entered into.
