Lundon, to be held on Saturday n xt, to consider the statement made In the House by tbe Minister of Lands in respeot of the vlllaee settlement Boheme. Wellington, July 26 The Agent-General writes recommending the appointment of Professor Long, of the Boyal Agricultural College, Oirenoaster, as a lecturer on dairy farming for the oniony. Mr Long la a scientist ; and the Government, wishing to secure the services of a thoroughly praotloal man, have reoommended Sir Dillon Bell to try Amerioa, and see If a suitable lect'irer cannot be obtained. Dunedin, July 25, At the Police Oourt to-day, two milk men were fined £_> for adulterating milk with —.tie. Another oase was dlsoharged, as a boy stated that some cream had been taken off when the oonstable procured the milk. James Knight, licensee of the Maitlacd Hotel, was fined £10 and costs for pre mitt ing dice to be thrown, and tha license was endorsed. For selling after hours he was was fined £2 and costs, but so tbat he would not lose the lloense the seoond conviction was not endcrsad.
