VICTORIA.
Melbourne, July 25. On the voyage of the schooner Lucania from New York* Theodore Hansen, one of the crew, murdered Hugh McKinnon with a tomahawk. The other members of the crew state the latter acted m a very tyrannical manner towards Hansea during the voyage; •
SirWm. Jervois spent an afternoon m the New Zealand Court at the Exhibition, and expressed great satisfaction with the general arrangement of the Court, considering the representation of the colony was of a thoroughly sound character. The fernery especially elicited the warm admiration of his Excellency. Sir William aiso expressed great surprise at the excellence and extent of the art exhibits from New Zealand.
A woman named Mrs Dick, three children, and another woman named Mrs Reishman, were poisoned by an escape of gas m their dwelling last night. One of the children has since died. Mrs Dick and another child are not expected to live, but the others are recovering.
