The Under-Secretary of the Native Department reeelved a telegram from Mr Olendon, R.M., to-day re Native disturbance at Whangarel, to the effeot that the trouble arose ont of a dispute as to gum royalty. One of the parties was deilroas of putting laud through the Native Lands Court, and the other op posed the Idea. Government have received another telegram from luspeo* or McGovern, who states tbat he has visited the scene of the recent disturbance amongst the Maoris, and his obtained a promise from the rival chiefs that there shall be no further outbreak of hostilities till the Native Minister has visited the spot. i ' ~
