THE NATIVE WIFE MURDERER.

(Per Press Association.; Gi^orne, July 20 The "Herald's Walpu correspondent ■applies the following further particrlarf of the Walpu murder :— Wm. Tueri, agea 26, was possessed of a violent, moody, and ungovernable temper, and hos frequently illuaed his wife, besides having on several occasions threatened to kiii her. Mary Tuerl, aged 23, ws^s a tidy and Industrious woman. Tho marriage wbb forced upon her, and before It she was inclined to another man j William, in his fits of rag-», u*ed to cvl up ber former attachment, and on oi < occasion threw her tato the fir?; A week •go, William's father hearing of his furious treatment, told his son he must leave tha place, whereupon William threatened to kill bim. On Friday last William and the wifH left their whare to go the plantation, William carrying a child. Before leaving he loaded his gun. The woman seeing him asked what was he going to do, and he replied that he was goiug to shoot pheasants. Later on the report of a gun was heard, and on search being made the body of the unfortunate woman was found in the scrub, her head being o'eft in twain, one Bide being a mass of bru'ses and disfigurement, and almost beaten to pulp, with burnt fragmetts of clothbg about ber neck. The murderer was tracked to the ranges, but nothing has been seen or heard of since. Maoris are collecting from all parts to Walpu, and are very bitter against the murderer.
