Webster, m his speech for the defence, challenged the Parnell party to bring an action against the " Times." The reading of the various letters caused profound sensation. .Among the letters produced by counsellor the defence m the libel ■ction against the *• Times" was one from Egan to James Carey, stating that he sent " him " (by which it is believed Mullet, the Invincible, was meant) urging him to give good value for the money.
