THE RINK.
The attendance at the Crystal Palace Rink last evening Iwaa very good, to witness the football match on skates which took place between teams chosen by Messrs Qliver (Colors) and D. J. Moore (Blues). The game was played m two fifteen minutes' spells. Mr Oliver winning the toss deoided to defend the southern goal. The ball was started m the centre of the hall with a scrimmage, and the next fifteen minutes saw as phenomenal a game as was ever witnessed here. Direotly the ball got clear of the " scrum " then began the work m real earnest, both sides determined on scoring. By a very smart piece of dribbling on the part oi tbe Blues the ball was taken m olose proximity to the Colors' goal, but Mr Oliver by a splendid kick sent the ball back to the middle of the field. From this point out it would be vary hard to give a eorreot idea of the play, the ball being kept constantly point? from one part of tbe hall to the other, the Colors being the first to soore, Mr H. Moore securing the leather landed a splendid goal amidst great cheering. On the ball being sent going again the Blues,' forwards, determined on scoring, oarjiod the ball into the Colons' territory where some }oose play was indulged m, end the Blues' lalf back, Mr H. Moore, landed a goal for his side. Half time now being called, the score stood equal — one goal each. The first spell was played udder the Association rules. The second spell was played under the Rugby ruleß, and of course there were plenty qp'a and down's ; it is needless to say that there were plenty •« down's." On the ball being kicked out, the Colors' forwards following up well carried the ball to the Blues' territory, and were doing their utmost to reach the coveted goal, But • tbe Blues' captain, calling on his men, carried tbe leather right down the hall, and Mr Bass securing the ball, passed to Mr Simpson, who, as quick as lightning, dropped a grand goal, dropping himself at tho same time gracefully on the floor. The ball being sent going again the Colors, working like one man, had now three minutes to score, and, realising their position, set to work m fine style carrying the ball into tbe Blues' ground. Mr Clark, securing the leather, potted a goal m fiae Btyle, time being direotly afterwards oalled, the result being a.draw, eaoh side scoring two goft's eaob, Messrs Fooks and Lochner aoted as umpires ; Mr Eneen, referee.
