bYDNEYj July 12. In the House last night, m replying to a question " Whether, m view of the present interruption of the Port DarwinBanjoewangi cables, Government had taken under consideration the proposal for the construction of a Pacific cable, and also whether the Government would, m conjunction with tbe other Australasian colonies, grant assistance to expedite the survey of a route, with further surveying ships beyond the Egeria," Sir H. Parkes stated that the expediency of taking up the construction of the cable from Vancouver had not been under the consideration of the Cabinet, and he further mentioned that no action would be taken by the Government without the sanction of Parliament.
