Death by Drowning. Masjxbrton, Jaly 9. A painful case of aupposad suicide by drowning ooourred at Mansiamahoe. Annie Kate Lang, wife of a M»sterton settler had been engaged nursing at Mangamahop. She left the house at 3 o'clock on Friday morning and not returning a search party was Instituted and foond her slippers on the bank of the river yesterday three miles from the noose. The river was dragged and the body recovered. The Weathersfield. Wellington, Jaly .9. The operations for floating the stranded barque Weatherefield start to-day. The Renata Will Case. The will case, Broughton v Donnelly, will not finish till the middle of tho week. The plaintiff's caße will probably finish to day. The other- side will then call rebutting evidence. Musical Festival. It has been decided to hold a musical festival m the spring on the model of the English provincial festivals. A picked baud and choms of 200 performers has been arranged for. Mr. Parker has been chosen direotor, and a guarantee list is m circulation. The expense is estimated at £159. Death of an Old Veteran. Blenheim, Jaly 9 Andrew Curtis, aged 80, was found I dead this mo'nng on the outskirts of the j town. He used to be a survey hand and j was the only eijrvivor of the famous ; Wairau massacre m 1843.
