Port Darwin, July S. The captain of the steamer Myrmidon states that from the proximity of volcanoes to Sumbawa there is little doubt the interruption to the cable was caused by volcanic disturbances. Peculiar subsets, resembling the Krakatoa glories of 1883-84, have been seen lately m the vicinity. The Myrmidon left yesterday with homeward cables, and instructions were forwarded to ascertain what steps were being taken for restoring communication.
