SUPREME COURT.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchuboh. July 4. The case of Thos. Henley, oharged with shooting at Peter Sinolair at Bolleaton on May 29th, occupied the Supreme Court all the day, and resa'tad In a verdict of guilty, with a recommendation to mercy, on aooouut of the provocation given to Henley by Sinolair and Detective Nell, who went to his house to make enquiries as to a fire at the Road Board offiop, which Slndlair suspected Henley of having caused, . and would not leave his house when requested to do so. Sinolair, aooordlng to theevJdenoe of Henley's family, assauUecfflhe latter before the shot was fired. Mr Justice Ward sentenced Henley to blx months' imprisonment, without hard labor. The oharge of violent assault against hU son, Patriok Henley, was not proceeded with. John Oockhead, a youth, who pleaded guilty to burglary, was sentenced to two years probation. Dunedin, July 4 At the Supreme Court to-day, James Hooper, for unlawfully wounding, was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment.
