ASREMARKABLE PETITION

A remarkable petition was presented t tho Houeo by Dr Newman lately, the petitioner being W. J. W. Koblnaon, architect of Wellington, who will be romeru bercd aa having been a party m greatly protracted litigation which has recently taken place m tbe Magistrate's Court. Those Baluatations are sufficient," The petitioner goes on to state that " the amount of £300 must be paid by the Government, actual damages sustained by the complainant at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Wellington." In consequence of his being compelled while these oases were being heard to give evidence about a oaso tried m Dunedin, hiß character and oredit were ruined. In conclusion he sbvs ; "I kindly ask. the hon members to taking my Qase into due consideration and mental preservation, and that I will be awarded till what extent the hon members may deem necessary."
