ASREMARKABLE PETITION
A remarkable petition was presented t tho Houeo by Dr Newman lately, the petitioner being W. J. W. Koblnaon, architect of Wellington, who will be romeru bercd aa having been a party m greatly protracted litigation which has recently taken place m tbe Magistrate's Court. The petition ia addressed to the members of tho House of Representatives *' who wero elected to be a voice to the people and guide tho wayward to the path of justice, and bo a light to them that ait m darkoeee. Salutations to you all 1 May the God of grace huve mercy upon us now and for evermore. Those Baluatations are sufficient," The petitioner goes on to state that " the amount of £300 must be paid by the Government, actual damages sustained by the complainant at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Wellington." Ho ezplanß the cases m which be was concerned, and makes charges against the Magistrate (Mr Wardell) m qonnectioa therewith. In consequence of his being compelled while these oases were being heard to give evidence about a oaso tried m Dunedin, hiß character and oredit were ruined. He aaka the House to deal with the matter at once, since he. has been left without money" or oredit; that a hearing o£ the case Robinson v Keith be granted ; and that judgment for £90 bo given m the case of Robinson v Houghton. In conclusion he sbvs ; "I kindly ask. the hon members to taking my Qase into due consideration and mental preservation, and that I will be awarded till what extent the hon members may deem necessary."
