Other sorts are from par to 5 per cent dearer. Crossbreds are unchanged. Competition is much keener, and foreign buyers are operating freely. The Americans are buying New Zealand wool of good quality. London, Jans 23. Five hundred bales of rabbitskins were sold to-day. Consols, 10034. New Zealand Four per cent. Inscribed Stock, 98 j New Zealand Five Per Cent., 10534. The money market is firmer, owing to a rise on the Continental Bourses. Tallow, best mutton 33s 3d, beef 22s 6d. English and American wheat markets are declining. The arrivals of cargoes have been large. Australian is quoted at 345 ; New Zealand longberried, 34s 3d. For the new crop 33s is offered. Off coast cargoes have not met with a ready sale. Australian flour, 245; New Zealand, 235. Since the opening of the present wool series 68,000 bales have been catalogued, of which 67,000 have been sold. The market is hardening. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from their London office, dated June 22nd : — " Wool — Competition is increasing and the market is firmer.
