A LADY AND OUR CITY FATHERS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — I always read your paper of an evening at tea. and this evening, amongst other things, read your account of tlie meeting of the Oity "Mothers" What a nasty old thing Mr FriedJander was, to ' be so rude to the Mayor. Mr Harrison is suoh a nice man, and the idea of Mr Friedlander asking him such a stupid question I Ffe might know that where the names resembled each other so much, any person might easily mistake them, because Fooks and Webster have nearly the same sound, and are spelled nearly the same. I tbiak Mr Harrison waß very impartial m giving one vote to eaoh of them, and all the ladiei I have spoken to think the same. Mr Harrison is too wiso to be j annoyed by any such Btupid question, and I was quite pleased when I heard he smiled at it, and was quite amused. Why does not Mr Williamson help his Woreh : p sometimes 1 because I am told be has lots of knowledge, and understands the new regime better than any of ihem. I am, etc,, Pjriscilla. Ashburton, June 23rd, 1888.
