Mr D. Thomas reports upon the live .stock market for the Ashburton distriot for the week ending June 19th as follows:— On Tuosdny at ]the Tinwald Yards I hold my weekly sale of sheep, oatfcle, and piga. The attendance of farmers, dealers, and graziers was above the average ; but, unfortunately, \ there was a smaller entry than usual, the total number of shoep yarded being about 1500 and 50 head of cattle. The bidding throughout the sale was brisk ani all lines jj7ore sold at an advance on" late rates,' I Bold 15$ fat jwossbre'd ewes at 8s ; 11 quarterback ewes, 7b 4d ; 29 merjno ewea, ss ; 26 mixed sheep, 5a 3d ; " 292 orosabre'd eweg arid wethers for turnips, 10a 9d ; 150 do Us 6d ; U2 do lls 4d ; 40 crossbred lambs, 6s ; and a prime lins of 160 crossbred lambs at 83 Id • 03 cull lamba, 4g 4d. fa cattle ij rather bettor demand both m fat and stores. J?at heifers, £3 sa, £4, £4 $s to £6. Js ; for Forward steers, £4 15s ; two year old, £2 5,3 ; calves, 15a to %\. We also sold privately during the week several lines of sheep for turniping at satisfactory prloes.
