Mr Seddon moved to lnolnde fine salt m baea as being exempt from duty. Mr Ml'oheleon said he could not accept that, bat would adhere to his omendment to ace pt coarae salt. If that wore rejected by the House be bhonld move that tho dnty on silt all round should be reduced to 10a per ton. Mt Seddon's amendment was lost by 44 to 34. Mr MUohelson'a amendment wan then loßt by 46 to 31. Mr Mitcholaon then moved that the dnty be r^duo >d from £1 to 10a. Carried on the voices Sausage skins, 20 per cant. Item carried Shot, 10s per cwt. Tho item was carried, Soda aeh, Is pc? owtr Mr Mltcheleon said he should ask the House to pass this, and he would take sod* crystals into consideration. Spirits 15a per gallon. The Minister, m reply to Dr Newman, Bald he would consider the desirability of making Bcrae difference m the duty on underproof spirits.
