(Per Peers Association.) London, Jane 20 The cargo by the barque Johann Carl, from Lyttelton, has been sold at 31s 6d ; 7500 quarters of Australian wheat, June shipment, have been sold at 32s gd. At the wool auction to-day 13,000 bales were sold. The opening prices were fully maintained, and m some instances they were exceeded. Greasy merinos and scoured are hardening. Apples by the Ruapehu are selling at 13s per box,
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cable from their London office, dated 19th instant : — Wool— The sales opened with spirit ; this day, The market for fine crossbred is unchanged, and for coarse it is easier. For greasy and scoured the market is firmer, and easier for coarse crossbred. The attendance of both home and foreign buyers is good and ihcir competition fairly active* The sales comprise about 300,000 bales, about 58,000 bales having been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. Wheat — The market is inactive. New Zealand wheat, average, is worth 33s per 4961b5. New Zealand longberried is worth 33s o.d per 4961D5. New Zealand wheat f.a.q. is worth, to arrive, 31s fid per 48olbs. Tallow-— The /narket is weak. Good mutton and good beef tallow are worth 23s and 2 is 9d respectively. Leather—- The market is firmer; quotations are unchanged. Frozen Meat-— Mutton markejt steady. New Zealand mutton, weighing 69 to tfglbs per par.case, is worth 4^ per Ib.. The lamb market is firmer, and New Zealand carcases are worth (Jd per lb. Hemp-^-Medium is worth £24 iqs per ton. Sydney, June 21. Butter is easier; locally made, is 6d to is 8d ; best imported, is id to is 3d ; good seconds, 9<i to nd, Cheese, easier, at 6d to 7d ; loaf, 7d. The bacon market is glutted — 5d to 6%d ; New Zealand bacon dull at from 8d to 9d. Maize is quiet at 2s 6d to 2s 7d; feed oats, 2s id to 2s 2d; heavy milling, 2s 3d.
