A certain pretentlouß shopper, after testing the shopkeeper of a millinery establishment beyond the forbearance limit, pompous^ ordered a reel of cotton to be nent to her house. She was - ■or prised, and her neighbors wore intensely interested, Boon after abe arrived at horned A. common dray, drawn by four horses, proceeded elowly up to her door. On the dray, with bare arms, were a number of stalwart laborers, They were holding on vigorously to some or j act which she conld not see. It was a most pozzUng affair. A f ter a deal of whipcreaking and other impressive ceremonies, the cart was backed against the kerb. There, repdelng c*lmly, end up, In the centre of the cart floor, was the Identical rest of thread which she had ordered. With the aid of a plank it was fiaal'y rolled, barrel fashion, to the pavement. After a mortal a 1 niggle it was up-ended on the purchaser's doorstep. The fact that the purchaser came out a minute la*ei and kicked her property In'o the gutter detracted nothing from the value of the lesson. — Exohsnge.
