COURSING.
TJNirED CANTERBURY GOUKKNG CLUB. The sacond meeting of the United Canterbury Coursing Club was held on the levels estate on Thursday. The weather was beautifnlly fine all day, and the attendance of lovers of coursing and of the public fairly large. The judging was entrusted to a gentleman skilled m the sport, and whose decisions gave the u'most satisfaction 1 The slipping was m tne hands of Mr T. Clarke, who did his very best all through, tho bad slips (if any) being caused through the billy nature of tbe country. Hares were plentiful,, but being wild, many got away before the dogs could be placed, and this prolonged proceedings somewhat. At'l p.m. a p'easaot break occurred, the.whole company then accepting Mr D.Mahouey's invi'ation to a light luncheon which was done full justice to. At the conclusion of the sport cheers were heartily given for Mr Orbell, for the judge and slipper. As to the day's work, the following details speak for themselves : — The Timaru Cup, of 8 all-ages.
