Mr Seddon complained thai all the papers connected, with the removal of the of the Westport and Greymouth Harbour Boardi bad not been laid on the table as erdered by the House. Air Fisher said that all papers referring to this matter bad been laid on the table, with the exception of some confidential correspondence between the Engineer-In" Chief and the Government. LEAVE OF ABSENCE. Leave of abaende for two .weeks was granted to Mr Pearson on account of Illness, to Sir Julias Vogei fo; a month, and to Mr Allan foe one week on urgent private business. QUESTIONS, Replying to questions it was stated that the only information m possession of Government with respect to the loan was that it had been floated at £97 36a, that the usual charge for floating it was 1& per cent, bat fall information would not bo available for tome time to come ; that .Nava atearine candles were considered the beat by the manager of the Kumara kludge channel for the work* over which lie bad supervision ; th»t the quesion of appointing a Supreme Court Judge was ■till under consideration ; that Mr McOallum had beea temporarily appointed to travel and leoture on butter-making and other dairy Interest ■ at £6 per week exclusive of travelling expenses ; that Government had endeavored to get the Chinese Conference postponed till Mr Oliver's arrival m Sydney, but that the requect was refused ; that it was not intended to complete the Manawata George line for summer-traffic this year, that the Una was huDg up like others till it was deolded what amount of money should be spent tils year, and that it was intended that expenditure on the linea •hoald last oyer \htpe> years till 1891 : that It was cot jptended to extend the small greg'ng system of land settlement; that stsps would be taken to carry Into effeot General Schaw's recommendation as to rifle olnbs, and that there were now twenty-four rifle clubs m the colony ; that stupe would be taken to prevent sly grog telling as much as possible ; that Government had no immediate intention of ■topping tbe importation of stoats and weasels ; that the question of limiting districts from whioh jurors can be summoned would be considered during the recess ; that justices who let their properties for Immoral purposes would be struck out of the Commission of the peace.
