Members are waiting for tha meeting < f tbe House to day to see what will tranipiro, bat nt present it Bppears as if the gftttng will be an unimportant one. Sir H. Atkinson Is reported to be better this morning, bat it ia generally thought that he win ba too nnwell to take the head of tbe House today and m consequence the Tariff Bill will bo postponed. If thisfis the case the Home wl 1 moat likely proceed to the discussion of the amendments made by the Council m the Ghlnese Immigration Bill over which there !■ likely to be soma trouble though Government Are Bald to be pleased at the alterations mads. The Government, it is stated will not abandon the ptopO3ed duty on salt. Strong efforts are likely to bo made to ha?e it either reduced or strnok cut altogether, bat MloisteM considering the question one of revenue will resent any inch effort. It la understood that Government will pot iheep dip on the free list.
