ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET

* 1 Mr D. Thomas reports npon the live e!ook market for tho week ending June 13th as follows :— On Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards I held my usual weekly sale of sheep, cattle, and pigs. The total entry comprised 3900 sheep, 14 pigs, and 21 head of cattle. Tho attendance was fairly good, and although at the commencement of the sale it was rather dragging, store sheep at tho midd'e and towards the end of the sale were well competed for, and sellers had every reason to be satisfied. A good enquiry esi3ts for good four and six-tooth crossbred wethers and maiden ewes m good condition ; and we sold a line of wethers off turnips at 10s ; we have also heard of a line off grass of mixed sexns to be pat on turnips at 10s 6d all round. I sold sheep at the following prices : — 29 fat ewes, 7s lOd; 22 fat wethers, 8s 8d; merino wethers, 4s 83 ; store crossbred ewes and wethers, 8s 3d, 7a 6d, and 7s; crossbred lambs from 4s 3d, 4s 10d, ss, 5s 6d, 5s lOd, 6s 6d, and 7s 4<3 ; two-tooth crossbred, 6s 9d to 7b ; crossbred ewes (middle age)d, 5a 8d ; merino ewes (boilers), Is 3d to 3s 5d ; merino wethers (boilers), Is 7d. In pigs, 303 3d to £2 ss. . Cuttle a dragging market, equal to late rates. - On Saturday I sold Mr H. Dalton's land, at the Hinds, for £7 15s an acre.
