Preserved meats are slightly improved. New Zealand cheese is inquired for. There is none m the market. English hop growers are reported to be feeling the effects of foreign ' competition very severely. ' The following private telegram was received m Christchurch yesterday ; — Adelade wheat, off- coast, 33s per quarter. Market is depressed by anticipation of heavy imports.
