He explained that no other arrangements had been proposed for the remainder of this year, as their present engagements would cover that period. He considered that a highly remunerative trade would follow the proposed alteration, and that the output from Canterbury would soon reach half a million sheep per annum. He thought the news In the telegraphic columns of the papers relating to the re-election of President Cleveland was very satisfactory to sheep farmers. Sir John Hall seconded the motion. He was glad to know that the Directors did not propose to make .a contract with ono Shipping Company only, and thought the Companies might oarry meat at f d per Ib, The ret o'ution was carried unanimously. The Ohalrmtn stated that the arrangements made with the Shaw, Savill Company oompared favorably with those made with the Tyaor Company, who oontraoted to oarry at current rates. Solembrla, which vessel had had a firo m her coal bunkers on hor last voyage. Several vessels of other companies had had their cargoes marked bad. The Tyser Company were bound to Inouro at tho same rate as other companies. Mr John Oooko panted out that the more Blieep put through the Belfast works would enablo them to do the work at less expense, and he would go so far 8.8 to any that It would bo possible m a short time to reduce tho rate of froez'ng to Jd per Ib. Tho Chairman moved, aad Mr John Cooko ueoondr d—''Th»t should the Directors fall m their negotiation the resolution Brat paesod shall not preolvde them from making freight engagements from time' to time, at shorter periods, as may be naoeasary for the business of the Company, »t tho boat rotes of freight obtainable."
