UNITED CANTERBURY COURSING CLUB.
TBIRD DAY. There was glorious weather for the third and conoladlng day of the United Canterbury Coursing Olnb'o meeting. Thoro wan a good muster of the pobllo. Hares were plentiful, and an early finish wbb made. Before the company separated cheers were given for the Hon J, M'Le>»n, Mr D. M'Lean, and those connected with the eatate, who tud helped to make the meeting a succesi. A like compliment win paid to the judge, slipper, fiold atewards, and at'p ate ward ; and on behalf of the Olub, all those who had ißßlsted m tho work of the meeting were warmly thanked. Subsequently those who wero present passed a resolution thanking the Olub for the exoellent sport which they had afforded the people of Ashburton. It was announoed that the Olub's next meeting will be held In the Timara district. Following are details of the oourulng : — Oantebbury Our. ' 11. Rhodanthe was In better form than The Brewer, and soored|a fairly easy win, < Silvermlne ran a bye. Third Round. Olan na Gael was very lumo, and fell an easy victim to Joe Brown. Old Acquaint* anoo was faster tv the bare than Stivermine, and puBB was lost when the latter had only soored onoe. Rhodanthe had a bye, whioh ahe ran with Tho Brewer, the result being a complete reversal of the form shown In their comae, m the previous round . Fourth Round. : Rhodanthe lod Joe Brown by three lengths, and turned to the latter, Who klllpd and lost. Weedon's bA w b Yara, Smoker — b by Bordeaux — Ooomivnsle, and won the stake Third Round. Zira got an advantngo m the slip, bat when both got to work she showed superior paoo to Blaok Boss, and won a very good course. Yorkshire Lass only gave Avo,n Belle the faintest opportunities In another well run qoarie. Ka.von ran a very severe byo. Fourth Round, Yorkshire Lass did almost the whole of the scoring against jß»ven, although the latter was always Qloso «,t band. 3«ra ran her bye with Bonnie Laddie, who did all the work. Final, To a long slip, Yorkshire Lass reached the hare, and turned twice before Zara, who had been unsighted joined In.
