Iho Hou&e met at 2 30 p.m. Mr Macarthur moved the adjournment of the House to enable the House to have •■ an opportunity < f considering the proposed \ new to the Midland Kail tray 1 Company . Considerable discussion ensued, after whloh Mr M 1 Arthur withdrew hla motion for the adjournment of the House, m order to mover—" That a Committee be appointed to enquire into the desirableness of granting any farther oonoessloqa to the Midland Hallway 0 Jtnpany," but leave was refused by the Houae, notice, of the motion not having beon given. Mr M'Arthur later on gave notice of hi», motion foe Wednesday next. ODSIOUS DUTIES Bl^. Mr Dunoan reaumed tho debate on the second reading of the Customs Duties Bill. Munsrs Jones, Major Jackaon and Kerr alno spoke. The debate was interrupted by the 0.30 adjournment:
