I A rapetlne of this Board wsa held on ' Sa'uiday, Present — Messrs M. Bruoe (Chairman), J\s. Brown, W. T. Lill, and G.o.Coe. CORRESPONDENCE Letters wero re^d (\) from Aahburton Drug Company re poißoned wheat. — The Chairman and Purveyor were authorised to make arrangements to procure and distribute poiaouod grain ; (2) From ratepiyorr, applying tor the formation and oietiljU'g of about 15 chains of Murphy'a roai. — Left m the hands of the Surveyors to make suitable arriuftm.'ctn with the cOQtractor for Butterick's road ; (3} From the Ashburton County Council, having reference to the reaolutiou lately passed m the Ouuncll, dividing the present County into two Counties, and abolishing the Road Board?, and asking for an expression of opinion from ratepayers and the Board. — The Board de olded to oalP ratepayers' meetings daring the montb, m both Warde, to lay the question before them. They deferred giving their own opinion till next meeting ; (4) From the same, re proposed dlreot road to Dromore, and stating that they could Bee no sufficient reason for agreeing to the proposal of the Board.— la view of this the Board could not Bee what further steps they could take. subveyob's bepobt. The Surveyor's report was read as follows (1) Wakanui Road : Repairs m this road have been done. The large culvert mentioned m last report is unsound and very inseoure, we are having it replaoed with a oonorete one. Timber has also been prooured fora bridge over the oreek whioh requires renewing. (2) Milton Road: The ford on this road between Beaoh and Wakanui roads has been oompleted. (3) Butterick's Road.: The contractor is proceeding with the metalling of this road. (4) The maintonace man's diary lies on the table. The report was adopted. WAKANUI OREEK, It wes decided to again write to the County Council and mill proprietors re silting up of Wakanui Creek. ANNUAL MEETIKS. The resolutions passed at the late annual meeting of ratepayers, having reference to the employment of the maintenance man, and the increasing of the number of members for No. 3 Ward, were bronght before the Board, and it was decided to let the matter ataud over till the proposal to dlvlda the County and abolish Eoad Boards was settled. LEADLEY's fiOAD It was decided to remove bank m ford on this road, made for the passage of a private waterrao9, and acquaint the Council of the same. GOES B NUISANCE. The Surveyors were asked if they had served occupiers with notioe to clear the gorse off roads It was statod m reply that notices were issued last October. It was decided to put men on at onca to commence a*, the River road. WAKANUI S'JHOOL ROAD It was decided to have the ailt on the Wakanui School road below Smith's removed, wiison'b and m quire's road, It was decided to remove all fences at the junction of these roads, and along M'Gulre's road. ADJOURNMENT. After passing accounts the Board adjourned.
