Wilson v tho inhabitants of the Wakanui Road Distriot and the Board thereof, claim £20. — The following conoludes our report of this case:— Mr Wilding maintained that that was one of plaintiff's allegation. — The objection was not allowed. — The witness continued that the Board had never taken any steps in the matter, after his letter. — By Mr White >, Waß not sure if he was a member of the Board when tbe road was formed. Knew the natural course of the water by seeing where the water formerly ran j there waa a visible depression. The witness was subjected to a lengthy oroßß-examination, a number of plans of the locality being called into requisition. — William Baxter, Engineer to the Ashburton County Counoil, said overflow water from the river had a natural outlet by a well marked depression to (he Wakanui Sahool road, but its flow was interfered with by fences, and tho road lino itself, To allow the water to flow in itß natural course the fenoe lines should have been opened, and oapaoious fords oonstruoted across the road. Without any artificial obstruction the overflow water could not possibly find itß way to the gully at Wilson's. — E Thomas also gave evidence, —J. Cochrane gave evidenoe that tbe oatur/jl overflow would go into the school gully,— Robert Maxwell was tbe loßt witneeß called and his evidenoe having been taken the case was adjourned for a fortnight.
