The House met at 2 30 p.m. I the tariff. The Premier asked permission of tbe Home to make a tew corrections in the Tariff irhioh be bad brought down on Tuesday. — Leave was granted. Replying to Dr Newman, the Premier ■aid he was quite satisfied about tbe primage duty of 1 per cent, whioh was now being charged, questions. Replying to questions, it was stated that tbe Minister for Public Works had not tendered his resignation ; that there wbb no truth in the reports about dissentlon in tbe Cabinet ; that Government had not oome to any conclusion at present abont sending out to the colony a seoond shipment of salmon ova ; that tbe Midland Company had asked leave to take the line over tbe hill top Instead of by tunnel if fonnd feasible, the land grant to be decreased proportionately to the oost of the line if so built, and that the Government would consent to this, and that the Premier had had a clause drafted embodying the provision ; that a delegate would be sent to the Chinese Conference, but that it was impossible to send a Minister daring the session.
