Me Waterhouse oppoood It. It would, In his opinion^ be iniquitous to pass such a Bill, and he moved tho following amendment : " That it is undesirable to proooed further with the Bill nntll tho result of the conference to bo held m Australia is known, also the result of the negotiations between the English aud Chinese Governments now pending." On the motion of Mr. Scotland the debate was adjourned till Tuesday. The Oonnoll toho at 4 p.m. till Tuesday
