At a special meeting of the Governor* of the Grammar School held to-day it was resolved— -(1) That the Board of Education be informed that this Board is not m a position to undertake immediate possession of the Girls' Grammar t-chool unless fees be paid for the purpose of receiving free tuition as district scholars ; (2) that app'i cation be made to the Legislature to pass an Act empowering Grammar School Governors to provide tuition for girls at their school or schools, and providing that any endowments reserved or to be reserved foi the benefit of the Girta' High School be placed under the control of the Board of Governors, and that the Board's solicitor be requested to prepare a Sill accordingly. Wellington, May 17-. The tenth annual meeting of the Colonial Imurance Co. was held last nigh. The report states the company had conducted its business on most conservative principles and had never been on so sound a basis 'ss at present.
