SOUTH RAKAIA LIBRARY COMMITTEE

A meeting 'of the above was held m the Library on Wednesday evening. Present — Messrs Pyko (chairman), J, Turner, Cox, Blackburn, Makeig, 0. W. Turner, Liddy and Oxley. Correspondence was read from the Com. missioner of Crown Lands with regard to vesting the Library Eeserves m trustees under tho Public Libraries Reserves Aot, 1885. On the motion of Mr Oxley, seconded by Mr J. Turner, it was resolved that the Secretary should draw up a declaration m accordance with the Commissioner's instructions, have the same signed and forwarded, with a request that the matter be completed. A statement was read showing the net proceeds of the late concert and danoo to be £12 Is 6d. Thia was considered very satisfactory, and on the motion of Mr Oxley a very hearty vote of thanks was passed to the ladies and gentlemen who had' assisted at the concert and deooratiog the hall, also to Mr J. Tuoker who had kindly supplied coal and firewood, The Secretary was instructed to write to this effect, The School Committee were granted permission to use the room for meetings, conditionally that they found their own lights. The Book Committee were authorised to spend £20 m books, the order to leave by the Triaoo, mail on Friday. Messrs 0. W. Turner, Broadbent and J. Turner were appointed a sub Committee to arrange for another entertainment and danoe within the next two monthß. Accounts for £4 15s 6d were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned,
