I BEG to call the attention of Farmers and Grain Producers to my new method of poisoning Wheat for the destruction of small birds. In former years the poisoned grain supplied from various souroea had aome aeriouß defeots, whioh I claim to have eutlrely obviated ln my new and patented procssß. By the old method, Immediately the Wheat begins to grow, the poißon is absorbed and beoomes useless. Whole Wheat does not absorb the polaon beyond the outer skin or bran and 'a few showers of rain washes it off. 1 have Imported a maohine at considerable cost for Bplittlng the wheat berry along the crease and removing the germ, wbioh, of course, prevents germination, thua preserving the lull strength of the poison when applied. The Wheat prepared by my process absorbs the -.t_.ycht.lno through the floury portions of the berry after it is split and degermed, and aa the blrdß are known to reject the outer husk and eat only the Inside, the poison cannot fall to be effeotive. Seconds of Wheat contain bo many foreign seeds, Buch aB oornblne, sorrel, dock weeds, &c, which birds never touch, that It Ib expensive, and a waste of strychnine to use lt as haa hitherto been done. The small and withered grains m scoonds cannot possibly absorb Buffioient poison to make tt of any value, and much injury id done to the land m the dissemination of noxious weeds. I shall be pleased to thow samples of Wheat aa it cornea from the maohine and after poisoning, and explain fully the Improvements m my process to all who take an interest m grain growing. J. M.
