SOUTH RAKAIA— FRIDAY (Before Captain Wray, R.M.) HOBSB AT LABQE. For allowing a horse to be at large m the township, B. Druey was fined 5a and •", costs, 7a. ASSAULT. Elizabeth Gleeaon was oharged with assaulting Elizabeth Barrett. After hearing evidenoe, which proved there had been ill-feeling between the parties for some time, the Bench stated its opinion that the affair was only a neighbor's quarrel, which should have never oome to court. No doubt a trifling assault bad been oommitted, and defendant would have to pay the coats, 125, . CIVIL CASES. T. MoGuire (administrator m estate of the late Q. Robinson) v F. Barns— Olaim £3 6s 6d. — Defendant swore that he was a temperance man, that he had never run up an account at Mr Robinson's hotel, aud that he had always paid for everything he got at tbe time. — There being no one to prove delivery of the goods, judgment was given for defendant. Same vE. McAnulty— Olaim £3 Is 6d. Defendant had sold barley to Robinßon, and was given to understand that the account was Bottled when he received the money for it.— Judgment for plaintiff for 7s 6d and costs. A number of cases were settled ont of court, and m others judgment was oon-* foased.
