IMPOBTAKT TO Grain Growers. I BEG to call the attention of Farmern and Grain Producers to my new method of poisoning Wheat for the destruction of email birds. In former yeurß tho poisoned grain supplied from various sonroes had some seriona defeote, wbioh I claim to have entirely obviated m m? new and pafeutftd prrcess. By the old method, Immediately the Wheat begins to grow, the poison ia absorbed and becomes übglobb. Whole Wheat does not absorb the poison beyond the outer oktn or bran aud a few showers of rain washes it off. I hav.e imported a machine at conalderablo cost for splitting the wheat berry along the oreaso and removing the germ, which, of course, prevents germination, thus preserving the full strength of the poison when applied. The Wheat prepared by my procesa absorVs*the etrychulna through the floury portions of the berry after it la split aud degermed, and aa tho birdß are known to reject the outer husk and eat only the Inside, the poison oamic t fail to bo effective. Seconds of Wheat contain ao many foreign seeds, Birch as combine, aorrel, dock woods, &c, which birds never touch, that It is expf nslve, and a waßto of Btrychnlne to ÜB3 It as has hitherto been done. The emoll and withered grains m seconds cannot pcmsibly absorb sufficient polaon to make It ox any value, and much injury id done to the land m the dissemination of noxious weed?. I aha 1 ! be pleased to chow eamplaa of Wheat as it comes from tho machine and after I poisoning, and -explain fully tho improvements m my procesß to all who tako nn interest m grain growing. J. M.
