Letters were read-(l) From Mr A W, Smith a? king permission to cut timber on road near section 21741, also offering to lease gravel pit lieeerve near the Alford Forest Hotel, — It was resolved to consider the matter at the next meeting of the Board. (2) From the Treasury stating that the sum of £24 17a 6d has been paid to th 9 credit of the Board, on account of the Village Special Settlement Roads. (3) From the Ashburton Oounty Ooaqoil euoloslng Electoral tioll for the Mount Somero Biding, 1888. Resolved that the same be left on view at the Mount Somers Hotel. (4) From Mr Vivian Rouse, asking to have his name taken cff the Roll, and Me William Fawcett's pnt on Instead. —The clerk was instructed to make the necessary alteration.
