Mr Gladstone, iv replying to an address of sympathy presented to him by 3700 non-conformist members said he received a silk badge from Australia on which was inscribed the words "Remember Mitchellstown " and which was worn by thousands m that country. He said further he was not prepared personally to vindicate the operations of the Plan* of Campaign, but m his opinion Government were the real authors of the organisation. 1 •
