Sydney, fMay 8.. A distressing shooting fatality is reported from the Mudjee district, A party of sportsman were out after game, when one was shot owing to the accidental discharge of his gun. His companions started off for assistance, and on their return found that the wounded man had blown his brains out, apparently to alleviate his suffering. The sentence of death passed on Merrett has baen commuted to imprisonment for fourteen years.
