The " Court Journal says : — " The'uso of a grand pianoforte m ohuroh instead of an organ is not a novelty. It was introduced at St. Paul's Cathedral by Doctor Stainer, m tho Paesion musio, and at St. Paul's, Knightibridge, the grand piano is regularly heard at f he Sunday services. The area of dry land m Holland is a million aores greater now than it was m the sixteenth oentury ; thanks to the energetic works of reclamation which have long been proceeding. It is computed that eight aores of land are daily restored to cultivation m the wonderful little country which fought so sturdy a fight against the ocean. For forty years past Dutch engineers have been proposing the reclamation of Zuyder Zee— a greater work by far even than tho draining of the Lake of Haarlem, whioh occupied twelve years. The Zuyder Zee was formed m 1272 by an invasion of tho sea, which pngulfed e6renty-two villages. The matter ia dow being taken up very energetically throughout the country,
