CONSULTATION FREE. 537 IMPORTANT TO Grain Growers. I BEG to call the attention of Farmers and Grain Producers to my new method of poisoning Wheat for the destruction of email birds. In former years, the poisoned grain supplied froTh various son roes had some serious defeots, which I olaim to have entirely obviated la my new and patented procasa. By the old method, immediately the Wheat begins to grow, the poison ia absorbed aud beoomea useless. Whole Wheat doee not absorb the poison beyond the qqter akin or bran and a few showers of rain washes It off. I have imported a machine at con-: eiderable cost for splitting the wheat berry along the crease and removing the germ, which, of course, prevents germination, thus preserving the iull strength of the poison when applied. The Wheat prepared by my process absorbs the strychnine through the floury portions of the berry after it is split and degermed, and ns tho birds are known to rejeot the outer husk and eat only the inside, the poison cannot fail to be effeottve. Seconds of Wheat contain so many foreign seeds, such as oornblne, sorrel, dock weeds, &c, which birda never touch, that it is expensive, and a waste of strychnine to use It aa has hitherto been done. The small and withered grains m seconds cannot possibly absorb eoffiolent poiaon to make it of any value, and much injury is done to the land m the dissemination of noxlons weeds. I shall be pleased to chow samples of Wh.ga.t as it cornea from the maqhiuw and after poiopulng, and explain fully the improvements m my process to all who take an Interest m grain growing. J. M.
