Auckland, May 5 The escaped French convicts, Oury and Gasparine, were again brought before the Police Court to-day before Dr Giles, R.M., on a charge of stealing the cutter Marttaot from Noumea harbor. Tho evidence of Henry Ooll'ngwood, first offioer of the barque Howard, was heard, and a farther remand for eight days was then granted on the application of Mr Williamson, who said that the foreign warrant issued m New Caledonia for tho apprehension of the prisoners had not yet arrived. He waa m receipt of telegraphic ooinmanicv tlon from Wellington, stat log that owing to the in-frcqaent communication between New Caledonia and Sydney, five or six weeks farther must elapse before the warrant and officer despatched from New Caledonia to bring the men baok wou^d arrive here. Invercaroill May 5. James Brown, a surfaceman on the northern line, waa 89verely Injured, and his leg broken on Friday night, by a fall of a portion of a hut m oourae of removal to auolher section of the railway.
