VICTORIA.
Meljjournh, May 2, Tbe Chinese passengers by the Afghan asserted that their food was being tampered with, and rushed the vessel's cook to-day, but members of the water police on board the steamer rescued him after a struggle. Some of the Chinese are reported to have expressed a determination to mutiny rather than submit to be taken back to China. A force of armed police and Customs officers have been sent on board the steamer to assist m the preservation of order.
