ASHBURTON BUILDING SOCIETY.
It is a hopeful sign that times are not so bad ns they havo been called when the local Building and Investment Bociety can, m the midst of the depression, declare a satisfactory dividend and allocate interest at the rato of 8 per cent on shares. As the Chairman remarked the state of tho Bocioty was very satisfactory and shareholders wore getting good interest for their capital invested m the concorn. It is also -most satisfactory to hear from tho Chairman that the Society was doing well m other ways besides declaring payable dividends, and that it rested on a rock, as it wore, firm and secure, despite fluctuations m the commercial world.
