BOTTLED WINES.
M. Waddington, the French Ambassador m London, has appealed to Baron de Worms and Lord Salisbury protesting against the proposed tax on bottled wines. He urged that the practice existing between France and England m regard to wine duties was most favorable to England, but added, that if the proposed tax on bottled wine was insisted on by the English Government the practice would be terminated and reprisals might be looked for.
