THE RABBIT CONFERENCE.

(PER PRESS ASSOCZATIOtf.)

Sydney. April 24. M. Pasteur's representative has disclosed to the Rabbit Conference the outline of M. Pasteur's scheme. It is proposed to cultivate microbes brought from France, and to spread the poison on herbage m the rabbit-infected districts. In the event of the scarcity of natural food artificial fodder will be used. The rabbits taking the poisoned food will die m twenty-four to thirty hours. After death they will communicate the disease to other rabbits, so that the virus will spread by natural process. It is not anticipated that any danger will arise from the decomposition of the rabbits killed, as upon feeling the effects of the poison they will retreat to their burrows and die, there being practically buried. Experiments are to be commenced immediately on sheep, horses, goats, and a variety of other animals, and will probably extend over a period of two months.
