Melbourne, April 24. Speaking at the Eight Hours Society's Anniversary banquet last night Mr Deakin, Chief Secretary, said it was a matter for regret that Lord Knutsford seemed disinclined to approach the Chinese Government on the subject of Chinese immigration. He hoped the labor organisations throughout Australia would suppress the Chinese invasion which threatened the colonies.
