0. W. Turner* IMPOETANT TO THE FARMERS OF CANTERBURY, CHAMPION White Wheat. "YTTITH a view of more generally V V lntrodudlng this Splendid Wheat In Canterbury, I have jaat feoelved a supply from England, and I shall be happy to forward a small quantity fbkb to^any applicant. This wheat commands the highest price on the English market, as millers prefer It before all others. It is a good yielder and la not easily shaken by the -wind, a feature of the most Impoctanoa to the Canterbury farmer; The following is an extract from a paper read at Kaiapol by Mr Joseph Turner, M'ller, some eight years ago t— "CHAMPION. -This Is a Wheat about which very little Is knovn so far as its Milling capabilities are concerned, In conaeqmnoe of its not being grown to any extent here. Fortunately I have had several opportunities of testing this excellent grain, and I hope the day is not far distant when instead of the bulk of our wheat being Hunters White it will be that of CHAMPION. It possesses a considerable amount of strength, muoh more than that of Hunters White, and rather leea than Telvet Chaff, Is of excellent color and a first class yielder. It is a Wheat which stands alone In Its excellence. No other Wheat at present grown In this province Is capable of producing a Flour equal to this. It poeaeßsea sufficient strength and color required to produce a really first olaia article, and I am convinced that if It was more extensively grown aod shipped to the Home Market it would In a very short time bring up the average price there from two to three shillings ft quarter. ' npHESE remarka are fully, verified JL from reports received of yields and piicea ob'.ainable m England, also from the faot that CHAMPION WHEAT grown this Reason m the Rakata district iv the Batne paddock as HUNTER'S WHITE hr a threshed 27 Bushels agalnit 20 Bushels of HUNTERS.
