WAKANUI RIVER BOARD
A meeting of tho Wakauni River Board was hold on Saturday. Present : Moaarß Jag. Brown (ohainnftn) S. B?o«vn, M. Wilaoo, D. Leddy, andT. Olfiphaoe. CLASSIFICATION OF LANDS Tho report of the cb&sificatlon of tanda for rating purposes was laid bafore the Board and approved. The Ohalrra<m signed tho Bamo. Instructions were given to pablioly notify thnt the classification list will bo open for inapeotion until noon on the 15th day of May next at the Walranul RoftdJßcmrd Office. RATING. It wan reßo'.ved that the rates bo struck m the following proportion 5— Firßt olaaa, 3 ; second class, 2 : third olaaa, 1, PRTEOTION. It was resolved, " That Meaurß Fooke and Son 3be requested to report on (ha present etato of the river, pointing oat what In their opinion should be done to prevent overflow, with estimate of ooat ; alao to report on the feasibility of diverting the main stream through Mr Strange'a p-operty, the araouot of laad It would be necessary to purchase, and &n estimate of cost should they think such a work i-dvleable ; to make a survey of the river from Section 1V 166 to tha north-west boundary of the diatriot." RIVER EOAD. A letter wai read 2rum the Wukanni Road Board aoklng what the River Board intended doing with reference to protection nt the River Road —Tha matter was left open for consideration at next meeting. CULVERT. It waa resolved that a oolvert be placed m the water race through the south-east bank on tho River Board, and that the bank bo extended towards the river at a sufficient height to lead tho overflow of water back to tho rlvor.
Tho meeting then adjourned.
