I<; Is stated, on reliable authority (aftje thy " Now Zealand Herald ") that there ia every probability of Mr Bryce leaving for England at an early date to prosecute an action for libel against Sir Arthur Gordon. It will be remembered that whon evidence waß produced for the de» fonca by Mr ilusden m the action for libel brought against him by Mr Bryce, some very foolish and untruthful letters written by Sir Arthur Gordon to the author of the " History of New Zealand" were impounded by the Oourt, and it ia upon these letters Mr Bryoe will found his cv.se, It scums that Sir Arthur Gordon haa been called upon to retract the libellou<3 statements contained m the letters, and to render a proper apology for the asperalona oubl upon tho character of Mr Bryoe. To those solicitations Sir Arthur Gordon has vouchsafed no reply, and now n Goal demand h^s been made by Mr Bryoe'a solicitor* for a public retractation of all the untruthful Btatemanta contained In the letters. If nc reply id obtained within a apoolfied time prooeedluga will be instituted for heavy damages.
