LONGBEACH ROAD BOARD
- +. A meeting of this Board was held on FridayPresent — Messrs J. Grigg (chairman), J. Williams, A. Dawson, and S. Holland. CORRESPONDENCE. Letters v?ere read— (l) From Messts Chapman Bros, agreeing to have tenders called for cleaning out drain on Longbeach Road.— (2) From Mr R. Smithers asking permission to reduce tho rises on the South Road so that the storm water would fall into Shepherd's Brook, Instead of coming into Plantation Reserve 1905. The Board decided they could not give the permission, and that Mr Smithers be informed that the subject of drainage of the district between Winslow and Ashburton is now under tho consideration of the County Council— (3) From Mr G. Giddings asking that fords on Graham'B Road be done before the winter. Tho Surveyors were instructed to have the works carried out. — (1) From Chairman of Coldstream Road"Board asking this Board to put the Boundary Road at the Hinds River fit for traffic, Bnd also to repair a part of the Poplar Road near the Boundary Drain. As the Board could not see how works of any standing could be done at the Hinds, it was decided to leave the matter m the hands of the Chairman, who stated that the Cuunty Council Committee were to meet there on Tuesday and they could then have Mr Walker's advice on the works asked for. Mr McKay interviewed the Board with re gard to the water being diverted and brough down this road. He objected to tho diversior of the water being brought to his place. The Surveyors were instructed- to mccl Messrs McKay and Williams on the grounc and investigate the mnttpr. ■'■ ' WATERTON NEW RQAp. Mr Moses waited on the Board with tegaxd to his being asked to open up the watercourses m his land. He stated that pror vision had already been made to take tho water away by a large drain through his land, and that he was already suffering great inconvenience without having to open up another course. — Two of the members said they had visited the place,^Mr Moses was informed that the Board were satisfied on the matter of the outlet for the water and would not interfere further. Mr Moses also brought before the Board that the mill proprietor had prevented tho v/at or from coming down Kidds creek, and thus stopped the supply of the ratepayers m this locality. This privilege had been granted some years ago tnd he asked that steps should be taken to reinstate the supply.— The Board informed the applicant that the ! matter should be brought before the County Council. ' ' ' ACCESS TO PROPERTY, Mr McCormick interviewed the Board and asked them to place a culvert over the drain m front of his place.— The Board informed Mini that they cou'd only find 'the timber and that he would havo to do the necessary \yoi'k. ApOCUNTS. After passing accounts the Board adjourned.
